At the outset of 2024, the Global Security Organization Against Corruption (OMSAC) extends a solemn and engaging message to all States and Governments, Civil Society, Non-Governmental Organizations, Whistleblowers, Media, the Justice Sector, and Security Institutions worldwide. OMSAC's President, Mr. Mourad MAZAR, has conveyed his warmest wishes while emphasizing the crucial importance of global unity in the fight against corruption and crime. This message, rich in principles and marked by determination, reflects OMSAC's unwavering commitment to a more equitable, just, and secure world.
Dear States and Governments, Civil Society, Non-Governmental Organizations, Whistleblowers, Media, Justice Sector, and Security Institutions Worldwide,
In this new year, on behalf of the World Organization for Anti-Corruption Security (OMSAC), I extend my warmest wishes to all components of our vast global community engaged in the fight against corruption and crime.
To Mr. António Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations, and to all entities under your distinguished leadership, particularly the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), led by Madam Ghada Waly, we take this opportunity to actively solicit your involvement in the development process of the comprehensive international convention on combating the use of information and communication technologies for criminal purposes, proposed by OMSAC in 2022.
In the face of an exceedingly alarming situation marked by an exponential rise in criminal activities exploiting these new technologies, the crucial urgency of formulating this convention cannot be overlooked.
To States and Governments, we reaffirm our commitment to being an honest and credible partner. OMSAC works for relationships based on the principles of human rights and respect for international laws, and we are ready to collaborate closely with you to eradicate these scourges.
To Civil Society, we salute your crucial role in the fight against corruption. Your power to act stems from your belief in possible change. Together, we can work for a fairer world, where justice doesn't come from above but from our individual and collective efforts.
To Non-Governmental Organizations, we renew our commitment to acting in partnership with you. OMSAC is ready to support your efforts by offering training and necessary legal tools, thereby strengthening the capacity of civil society, particularly in developing countries.
To Whistleblowers, we salute you as guardians of integrity. OMSAC is here to support, protect, and value your courage in exposing corruption. Your contribution is essential for lasting change.
To the Media, as guardians of truth, we recognize your vital role. OMSAC is committed to collaborating with you to promote transparency, ensure public access to information, and enhance citizen participation.
To the Justice Sector and Security Institutions, we salute your commitment to upholding the law. OMSAC is ready to collaborate with you to enhance capacities, share information, and work together in the pursuit of justice.
Together, with courage and ambition, let us act to put an end to corruption and crime. May this new year be one of collective action, justice, and progress for all.
Sincerely,
President
Mourad MAZAR
